Ka Roger is Dead
Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal, spokesman of the communist group New People's Army (NPA), is dead.
According to the article posted on Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) website, Gregorio "Comrade Roger" Rosal succumbed to a heart attack last June 22 in a guerrilla zone in Luzon at the age of 64.
"Nagpupugay ang buong kasapian at pamunuan ng Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas (PKP), lahat ng Pulang mandirigma at kumander ng Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) at lahat ng rebolusyonaryong pwersa kay Gregorio 'Ka Roger' Rosal (The entire membership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), Red fighters of the New People's Army, and the Filipino people are one with his family and friends in mourning his death)," the communist rebel group said in a statement.
CPP Information Bureau media liaison Marco Valbuena, reveals that the delay in public announcement was to give CPP officials to inform Ka Roger's daughters of their father's death.
"Intense military operations prevented information from reaching his daughters with dispatch. Ka Roger's siblings have also been informed of his passing," Valbuena said.
On October 15 at exactly 12 noon, all units of the NPA will carry out a gun salute in his memory.
