A series of controversial episodes are set to air on TV5's Face to Face next week.

As part of its pre-anniversary offerings, Face to Face tackles the story of a GRO who unknowingly had an affair with her father and a revengeful househelp who botches her boss's coffee with her own spit.

For one of its most controversial episodes airing on Wednesday (March 21), Face to Face tackles the issue of a GRO who, apart from being hurled by several women for having an affair with their men, learns in the show that one of her "sugar daddies" is her real father. How does she face this unexpected revelation?

On Friday (March 23), a woman goes berserk upon learning that her househelp puts something more than just creamer and sugar to her usual coffee. Aside from spitting in her coffee, she also learns that her household helper also puts urine in her juice and went as far as rubbing chillies in her underwear. The helper defends herself by claiming that her employer is cruel to her and even feeds her spoiled food. She just wishes for boss to be kinder to her.

Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes Back in “Wrath of the Titans”

Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes Back in “Wrath of the Titans”

Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson star once again as gods at war, Zeus and Hades, respectively, in Warner Bros.’ new fantasy adventure “Wrath of the Titans.”

In the film, a decade after his heroic defeat of the monstrous Kraken, Perseus (Sam Worthington) - the demigod son of Zeus -- is attempting to live a quieter life as a village fisherman and the sole parent to his 10-year old son, Helius.

Meanwhile, a struggle for supremacy rages between the gods and the Titans. Dangerously weakened by humanity’s lack of devotion, the gods are losing control of the imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos, father of the long-ruling brothers Zeus, Hades (Fiennes) and Poseidon (Danny Huston). The triumvirate had overthrown their powerful father long ago, leaving him to rot in the gloomy abyss of Tartarus, a dungeon that lies deep within the cavernous underworld.

Perseus cannot ignore his true calling when Hades, along with Zeus’ godly son, Ares (Edgar Ramírez), switch loyalties and make a deal with Kronos to capture Zeus. The Titans’ strength grows stronger as Zeus’ remaining godly powers are siphoned, and hell is unleashed on earth.

Neeson says he was eager for the chance to explore in greater depth the bond between fathers and sons, and also brothers. “Director Jonathan Liebesman and the writers wanted to mine the difficult relationships between Zeus and his sons, Perseus and Ares, and his complex history with Hades and their own father, Kronos,” the actor notes. “That appealed to me greatly—the realism within a fantasy, the very human emotions driving this story that takes place in a fabled world.

Fiennes adds, “I’ve always thought of the Greek gods as projections of human appetites and desires, especially when you think of our desire for immortality, eternal strength, eternal beauty and power. We can’t have those things, so we create these larger-than-life characters and fantastical stories.

Jonathan was very intent on redefining the relationship between the gods, particularly Hades and Zeus,” adds Fiennes. “They’ve always had a difficult history, but this time it’s really coming to a head. The gods’ powers are diminishing as humankind is finding its own sense of self-worth. Hades has decided that the only way to maintain any kind of power - which for him equals immortality - is to release the eternal destructive force of his father, Kronos, from where he’s been imprisoned for so long. Zeus is against this as he knows it will mean mass destruction, so the brothers are at odds from the beginning.”

Zeus realizes that the gods are weaker because it is time for humans to be strong,” Neeson explains. “He sees the rightness of that, he understands this new world order, and he’s okay with it. Unfortunately, he’s unable to convince Hades, and his benevolence toward mortals leaves him open to his brother’s old tricks.”

Though onscreen enemies, Neeson and Fiennes are great comrades off camera, and enjoyed working together once more. “Ralph is a very dear friend, and it was terrific to have so many scenes with him this time around.”

Occasionally, though, the seriousness of their roles got to the pair. “We burst out laughing a few times,” Neeson continues, “because, well, there we were again in long wigs and beards and breast plates, me with my thunderbolt and he with his pitchfork.”

Fiennes shares, “Liam and I had much more interaction in this film than in the last, and some really strong scenes to play, which we loved. And to be working with a friend is always a good thing.

Opening across the Philippines on March 29, “Wrath of the Titans” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Brown Recluse Spider Attacks the US, How to Prevent and Cure its Venom

Brown Recluse Spider Attacks the US, How to Prevent and Cure its Venom

The brown recluse spider who almost costs Nikki Perez, a fashion merchandising student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth her eye sight due to its venomous arachnid, begins to spread in the United States and creates scare and panic.

University of Kansas study by graduate student Erin Saupe says that the spider's habitat is limited to the Southeast and Midwest, stretching from Kansas east to the Appalachian states.

But Saupe's study also states that it's habitat might move north to states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and even New York.

Dave Losher from Illinois had a frightful encounter with a brown recluse spider in 2002. He almost lost his leg after his physicians failed to identify the spider that bit him; this caused the venom to spread and kill more tissue. The bite required doctors to remove a substantial amount of tissue; the wound was so big that you could fit a baseball in it:

The brown recluse spider, considered more dangerous than the Black Widow, induces red blood cell destruction. Symptoms can include pain at the site of the bite, itching, muscle and joint pain, as well as vomiting and fever.

Bites typically take months to heal and can be excruciating.

If you have been bit and have already killed the spider, it is important to safely and securely bag the dead spider so that it can be identified by your physician or health care provider.

By receiving immediate medical attention victims can reduce scarring and expedite the healing process; physicians will typically inject victims with steroids to accelerate the healing process.

Most encounters occur inside or around cardboard boxes, in attic or basement rafters, or in shelves or drawers where they can hide.

The best way to avoid these dangerous animals and protect yourself is to scan drawers and boxes before you reach into them.

The brown recluse spider is even more dangerous than the Black Widow because of the way its venom affects humans. Their venomous bites cause necrosis, meaning that the tissue surrounding the attack site dies and leaves its victims with nasty scars.

Bites typically take months to heal and can be excruciating.

Typical side effects that attack victims experience are dizziness, muscle soreness and fever. Very few people perish as a result of being bitten, those who do tend to be children and elderly individuals. Regardless, there is a real risk of death and proper follow up with a physician is crucial.

Rocco Nacino is ‘Lam-Ang’

Rocco Nacino is ‘Lam-Ang’

Kapuso fast-rising star Rocco Nacino was chosen to star in the movie “Lam-Ang.”

The movie is the initial movie venture of Sarindangan Films and Rocco's first starring role.

Asked what he feels about this movie project, Rocco quips “Sobra akong excited kasi napakaganda ng project. It’s a role of a lifetime. Pagbubutihin ko talaga para hindi ako mapahiya. Napakalaking proyekto nito at asahan ninyong ibibigay ko ang lahat para masabing karapat-dapat ako sa role.”

Former sexbomb dancer Rochelle Pangilinan will play as Rocco's leading lady. Other cast-members include Sharmaine Buencamino, Art Acuña, Alchris Gallura, Nathaniel Britt, Kokoy delos Santos and Alchris Gallura.

According to Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, which also happens to be the film's producer, “The Lam-Ang Project” is based on the Ilocano epic poem “Biag ni Lam-Ang” by Pedro Bucaneg. It tells the story of an “extraordinary” man named Lam-Ang, who had the ability to speak upon birth, and his quest to avenge his father’s death.

So why Rocco?

Hindi ko pinili si Rocco for the title role… The film chose him. He looks the part. May comic timing siya, simpatiko, maganda ang attitude and has the right presence.

Arnold Clavio Racist Remarks Against Philippine Azkals (Video)

Arnold Clavio Racist Remarks Against Philippine Azkals (Video)

GMA-7 veteran broadcast journalist Arnold Clavio is now getting a lot of attention online. Unfortunately most of them negative flak for his racist remark against the Philippine Azkals in relation to the ongoing harassment complaint filed by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Match Commissioner Cristy Ramos on Azkals' players Lexton Moy and Angel Guirado.

The said remarks happened on GMA-7 daily morning show Unang Hirit where Clavio particularly said, "Yayabang nyo akala nyo. Porke dinadagsa kayo ng mga fans...gu-gwapo nyo eh. Parang God's gifts to women.

"Ngayon nag-sorry para daw dun sa isa nalang kasamahan. Sa'n ka nakakitang Azkals na may suso. Anong cup-b sa isang kasama? Sana nag sorry, sorry na lang talaga ‘di ba..

"'Di ko kayo ka-kultura.. kasi wala dito’t wala dito (pointing to the chest and head), ‘di naman kayo Pilipino e, nagpapanggap lang kayong kayumanggi, hindi kayo dito lumaki. Mahirap ‘yun. Insensitive."

Watch the video below:

What do you think of Clavio's statement? Did he go overboard? Unbecoming of a broadcast journalist? Insensitive - knowing that some members of the Azkals team are also Filipinos? Or he is just airing his own opinion and not wanting to demean anyone?

Fresh from her successful US concert tour, ‘Queen of Teleserye Themesongs’ Angeline Quinto remains relentless this year as she is all set to release her much-awaited sophomore album entitled “Fall in Love Again.” From being the first ‘Star Power’ Female Pop Superstar grand champion, Angeline has managed to steadily climb up the music royalty with her powerful interpretations of today’s most-requested hits including “Patuloy Ang Pangarap,” “Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” “Saan Darating Ang Umaga,” “Hulog ng Langit,” and “If You Asked Me To.” Aside from receiving a platinum certification for her first album “Patuloy Ang Pangarap,” Angeline has already earned several recognitions from various award-giving bodies under her belt—24th Aliw Awards’ ‘Best New Artist,’ 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards’ ‘Best Secular Song’ for the song “Patuloy Ang Pangarap;” and 3rd PMPC Star Awards for Music’s ‘New Female Recording Artist of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for “Patuloy Ang Pangarap.” She is currently one of the mainstays of “ASAP 2012” with a regular segment title “Angeline on Q.”

Like Angeline, Jovit Baldivino is set to launch a new album this year. He, together with Star Records, is now in the process of song selection for his third music compilation. Recently, Jovit was presented with a triple platinum award for his debut album “Faithfully” and platinum award for his second record titled “I Did It For Love.” The first grand winner of ABS-CBN’s nationwide reality talent search “Pilipinas Got Talent” was named ‘Best New Artist’ by Aliw Awards in 2010. Some of Jovit’s hit songs include “Faithfully,” “Too Much Love Will Kill You,” “Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin,” and “Mula Sa Puso.” He is currently a mainstay at “ASAP 2012” as part of ASAP Pinoy Champs.

Meanwhile, ‘Acoustic Pop Sessionista’ Juris carries on enchanting her beloved listeners not only in the Philippines but also in other South East Asian countries as she is set to be positioned to be the “Soothing Voice of Asia” with the launch of her third album this year. Her latest album produced by Singaporean company S2S will be an all-English repertoire that would cater to the wider South East Asian market. Juris’ solo singing career started with Star Records. Her first album “Juris: Now Playing” has achieved the platinum status while her second album “Forevermore” already reached gold. Her hits include soothing renditions of well-loved Filipino ballads like “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” “Don’t Say Goodbye,” and “Forevermore.” Juris performs every Sunday in “ASAP 2012” as part of the ‘ASAP Sessionista.’

Singer-songwriter and Juris’ fellow ASAP sessionista, Aiza Seguerra is bound for a grand celebration this 2012 as the launch of her latest album coincides with her 25th anniversary in showbusiness. Aiza’s newest record will feature her new songs and compelling collaborations with various OPM music icons. Aiza’s top-selling albums include ‘Para lang Sa Yo,’ ‘Open Arms,’ ‘Aiza Seguerra Live,’ ‘Perhaps Love,’ and ‘Songs From The Vault.’

Not to be left behind among Star Records’ top-selling artists are two of ABS-CBN’s most brilliant singer-actors Piolo Pascual and Jericho Rosales who aside from launching the most-awaited primetime drama series titled “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” are off to release their latest records this year.

After his successful platinum album “Change,” Jericho is excited for his new ‘baby’ with Star Records. His second album will once again feature his ‘alternative OPM’ kind of music that features all-original tracklist with two remakes. It will be notable collaboration with top notch producers from the industry. Jericho bagged the ‘Song of The Year Award’ in Star Awards for Music 2010.

More Filipinos Befriend Wako Wako

ABS-CBN’s newest fantasy series “Wako Wako” became a trending topic on Twitter recently, as praises and commendations on the show’s pilot episode flooded the said online platform.

According to netizens, besides “Wako Wako’s” excellent special effects and cute representation of the wishing elves calles Arukans, it is also timely to launch a children-themed series as it’s already vacation time for students.

The word “wish” was also at the center of the discussions on “Wako Wako,” which means that viewers already got a good grasp of one of the program’s morals that everyone must be careful in what they wish for.

Wako is so cute. My children love it so much,” a mother said on her Twitter post.

Meanwhile, this week on “Wako Wako,” Diyosa Marishka (Aiai delas Alas) continues her search for her lost Arukan named Barkan, who’s called Wako by his new master Muymuy (Yogo Singh).

Wako will find out that Diyosa Marishka landed on earth to get him back. He will, then, ask help from Muymuy, who’ll later discover the Arukan’s power to grant wishes.

Muymuy will also discover that the consecutive lucks he recently had were because of Wako’s help. But these granted wishes will pay off through a series of misfortunes for Muymuy’s loved ones. His mom Isay (Gladys Reyes) will fall off the stairs while his grandma Ima (Malou de Guzman) will get arrested due to illegal gambling.

Even Wako’s safety will be putto a test as Muymuy’s aunt Bechay (Maricar de Mesa) will mistake the Arukan as a hybrid of a monkey and a dog, and the cause of her skin allergies.

Catch “Wako Wako,” Mondays through Fridays, before TV Patrol on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida. For more information, like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wako-Wako .

Sneak Peek: The Lucky One

Sneak Peek: The Lucky One

Based on Nicholas Sparks’ bestseller “The Lucky One,” Zac Efron (“Charlie St. Cloud,” “New Year’s Eve”) stars alongside Taylor Schilling (upcoming “Atlas Shrugged: Part 1”) and Blythe Danner (“Meet the Parents” franchise) in this romantic drama directed by Academy Award®-nominated writer/director Scott Hicks (“Shine,” “No Reservations”).

In the film, U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive - a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm.

Hicks directs from a screenplay by Will Fetters (“Remember Me”), adapted from the Nicholas Sparks novel The Lucky One. The producers are Denise Di Novi, who previously produced Nicolas Sparks novel-to-film adaptations of “A Walk To Remember,” “Nights In Rodanthe” and “Message in a Bottle,” and Kevin McCormick (“Arthur”). Ravi D. Mehta, Alison Greenspan and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers, and Kerry Heysen is co-producer.

Rounding out the cast are Riley Thomas Stewart (“The Beaver”), Jay R. Ferguson (TV’s “Mad Men”) and Adam Lefevre (“The Bounty Hunter”).

The production’s creative team also includes cinematographer Alar Kivilo (“The Blind Side”), production designer Barbara Ling (“No Reservations”), costume designer Dayna Pink (“Bruno”) and editor Scott Gray (“The Boys Are Back”). The composer is Hal Lindes (“The Boys Are Back”).

Opening across the Philippines on April 2012, “The Lucky One” will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
