Joe the Plumber, Ohio's Next Congressman?

Joe the Plumber, Ohio's Next Congressman?

Joe the Plumber, Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher in real life, has filed a statement of candidacy to run for Congress in 9th District of Ohio - a city which has an approximately 300,000 in total population.

Capital New York reports that Wurzelbacher's congressional campaign committee, named "Joe for Congress 2012" was submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Friday, October 7.

Wurzelbacher, a plumber from Holland, Ohio, became famous in 2008 when he questioned then-Senator Barack Obama about his plan on economic policies.

As part of his reply, Obama said that his tax plan aimed to "spread the wealth around," a comment immediately seized upon by his opponent, Republican Sen. John McCain.

The congressional seat which Wurzelbacher intend to get is currently held by Democrat Marcy Kaptur, who is serving her fourteenth term in office - the longest serving Democratic woman in the House.
