Tropical Storm Pedring: Severe Weather Bulletin Number 8, issued at 5:00 p.m., Monday, 26 September 2011


At 5:00 p.m. today, Tropical Storm "PEDRING" has slightly intensified as it continues to threaten Isabela-Aurora Area.

Tropical Storm "Pedring" is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 260 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora (15.6°N, 124.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center with a gustiness of up to 160 kph and is moving West Northwest at 19 kph.

3-DAY WEATHER FORECAST

Tuesday afternoon: Expected to make landfall over Casiguran, Aurora early tomorrow morning and will be in the vicinity of Baguio City.

Wednesday afternoon: 410 km West Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur

Thursday afternoon: 820 km West Northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur


Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 - 25 mm per hour within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon.

Typhoon Pedring is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas.
