Ronald Singson Released from Prison
Barely one year after he was convicted and imprisoned for possession of illegal drugs by the Wan Chai District Court in Hong Kong, Former Ilocos Sur Rep. Ronald Singson was released from Tung Tao Correctional Institute on Saturday, January 14.
Singson arrived in the Philippines Saturday afternoon via private plane with his father Ilocos Sur Governor Luis “Chavit” Singson and 3-year-old daughter Samantha.
The former lawmaker was arrested at the Chek Lap Kok International Airport on July 11, 2010 after airport authorities discovered a 26.1 grams of pure cocaine and two tablets of Valium in his possession.
After pleading guilty, Singson was sentenced to 18 months in prison on February 24, 2011.
He resigned from the House of Representatives after he was convicted and was later replaced by his younger brother Luis Ryan Singson, who was elected on May 28, 2011.
