GLEE Season 2 'The Comeback' Recap

It’s apparently easy to cement your popularity when you can rock a hoody and comb your hair in the wrong direction. This was one of the most talked about episodes in awhile when fear broke out that there was going to be a Justin Bieber tribute. Well..not quite. A few of our glee clubbers are looking to break out of their funks and make a comeback. Rachel wants to be on top again and pays Brittany to start dressing like her so she’ll become a trendsetter. Brittany ends up chatting with Teen Vogue and Rachel still has no friends. Sue leaves a Sue-icide note after her loser interview airs and she’s decided she has nothing to live for. Emma encourages Will to get Sue to join the Glee club to raise her spirits. Does she really think that’s going to end well?

Sue has never had anything but negative thoughts. There’s the rare occasion when she eats a cookie, gets sappy and hangs out with her sister but really, she hates everyone else. She agrees to sit in with the Glee kids but of COURSE she has sneaky motives. She tries to pin the kids against each other and starts with Rachel and Mercedes. She plays the classic high school card and tells them that the other girl said something bitchy so the girls go at it with a diva off. They sing Take Me Or Leave Me and try to out”run” each other. The song fits in well with Schue’s Epic Anthem theme he gave them this week but their feud is over by the end of the song. Talent sticks together I suppose.

Sam is worried about losing Quinn and has decided she would never cheat on him. Dude’s in denial. His logical plan of action is to make a Justin Bieber tribute band to win her back. Um. Yeah. He gets inside a comfy looking purple hoody, shakes his hair so much he looks like he has a twitch, and starts playing Baby. Who am I to doubt the power of the Biebs? He apparently has the power to win over an entire Glee club. Minus Finn, who is the voice of reason and logic when the rest of the guys want to join Sam’s band. Finn thinks the Biebs sucks but the guys want to get some with their ladies. Bieber take 2. LOL at Puck’s Bieber weave. Amazing. They anthemize Somebody To Love and I almost hate myself for loving it. There’s a lot of baby powder being thrown around on this stage. Are they saying Bieber’s a baby?

Santana is so turned on by the power of the Biebs that she tries to get with Sam. So much that she smacks some sense into him and convinces him to break up with Quinn and get with her instead. Quinn is hurt by all of this but is she really surprised? She had it coming. Lauren is close to letting Puck get a piece of that and decides to perform her first song in his honor. She asks for some advice on how best to battle her nerves and he tells her to picture the club in their underwear. I gotta say I’m a little disappointed Artie doesn’t have a carebear or something on his boxers. Puck however wins the best undies award. He rocks some shiny zebra striped speedo looking thing. Something for Lauren to look forward to. She sings I Know What Boys Like and takes the time to motorboat Artie during it. Dedication.

Will tries one more time to make Sue have a heart for 5 minutes and takes her to a pediatric cancer hospital. Well, that’s one way to do it. They do a singalong with the kids and Sue is human once again. But not for long. She wants to show the kids how to sing an anthem properly and enlists them to help her perform Sing by My Chemical Romance. Since when is MCR considered an epic anthem? Points for the plaid tracksuit though. Sue now has her mojo back and can once again get back to destroying the glee club. She becomes the new coach of Aural Intensity; Glee’s competition at Regionals. She’s got more dedication than Brain from Pinky and the Brain. Where’s Vocal Adrenaline?

Funniest Quotes of the Night

Sue: You’re lucky I left my blowgun at home. I’ve got a clear shot of your nahnies.

Puck: Do dudes ever get erections when they wrestle with you?
