GMA-7's 'Indio' Combines the Richness of Phillipine Culture and the Magic of 'Encantadia!'

In 2005, GMA-7 brought us "Encantadia," the most-loved and the best fantaserye ever produced in the history of Philippine television. Now in 2013, the Kapuso network is set to make another mark combining the Philippine history and the effects of modern technology.

Starting this Monday, January 14, 2013, get ready to see a historic epic-fantaserye on Primetime. This is "Indio," a TV series with a caliber of a movie!

TV Series Craze along with the members of the press and bloggers were fortunate to witness the red carpet advanced screening of this newest Telebabad offering last Wednesday, January 9 in Cinema 5 of SM Megamall. The event was graced by the full casts of the movie headed by Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., the "Indio" and Jennylyn Mercado who is playing her leading lady, Esperanza.

The advanced screening showcased the pilot week of the TV series. And we witnessed how huge and how amazing this teleserye is!

The Indio ("Ang Indio")

The Spaniards ("Ang Mga Kastila")

Yes, "Indio" is the most expensive TV series produced by GMA-7. In terms of the costumes, settings, and special effects, we can say that "Indio" can surpass "Encantadia" in terms of budgets and settings. Unlike "Encantadia," the setting is not only in the fantasy world, it even brings us in the ancient Philippine times during the Pre-Hispanic and Hispanic period!

"Indio" even showcases the richness of Philippine culture! Majority of the scenes were inspired by Philippine history - the colonial period, the discovery of the Philippines by Ferdinand Magellan, the conquering of Miguel Lopez De Legazpi, and the simple living of the indigenous Filipinos. It even uses deep Filipino words like "Bathala," "saguigilid," "lakan," "malaya," and of course "indio" (an insulting term used by the Spaniards to the Filipino). Philippine folktales and beliefs were also seen in the story. We're sure that history students and Philippine history lovers can truly relate to this TV series!

It's good to note that this series didn't only dwell in ancient period. Yes, it has a touch of modern technology as it uses hi-definition effects, much more and much better than "Encantadia" before. Its cinematography is truly awesome, superb!

The Fairies ("Ang Mga Diwata")

The Indigenous People ("Ang Mga Katutubo")

The themesong of "Indio" is also very nationalistic! It's OST is titled "Lupang Payapa" sung by Gian Magdangal. Here is the music video:

Aside from settings, effects, music, and cinematography, "Indio" also combines the biggest names in Philippine showbiz. Aside from Sen. Bong and Jennylyn, completing the cast are Michael De Mesa, Mark Gil, Jackie Lou Blanco, Jomari Ylanna, Agot Isidro, Sam Pinto, Rachelle Ann Go, Solenn Heusaff, Marco Alcaraz, Luis Alandy, Jinggoy Alonzo, Luncho Ayala, Ellen Adarna, Ehra Madrigal, Bea Binene, Princess Snell, Fabio Ide, Alden Richards, Rhian Ramos, and Sarah Lahbati to name few! Wow, it's truly star-studded!

Yup, the controversial actress Sarah Lahbati is part of the series. She plays Ynaguiguinid, the goddess of war who gave birth to ‘Malaya,’ the character of Sen. Bong. Her character is truly remarkable.

"Indio" is the so-called second epic-serye on Philippine television after "Amaya." But, it is far better than "Amaya" as it combines the history and fantasy in one big TV series! It's indeed a movie made for TV!

As everybody is now wishing for another sequel or remake of "Encatadia," watch "Indio" and our thirst for the new "Encantadia" will surely be quenched! It's truly the most anticipated and the grandest teleserye ever produced on TV this 2013! Congratulations to GMA-7 for bringing another milestones in Philippine television! "Indio" truly makes us feel that we are true Filipinos and we are proud to be! Two thumbs up Kapuso for coming up with this great teleserye!(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)

'Temptation of Wife' Soars Higher in Nationwide TV Rating!

More and more viewers are magnetized with the exciting developments in GMA’s Temptation of Wife as the series continues to dominate its timeslot with increasing high numbers nationwide, according to the more widely recognized TV ratings data supplier Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

The Kapuso Network’s Pinoy adaptation of the Korean series has been garnering critical acclaim since its debut, delivering consistent high ratings not only in viewer rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila but also across National Urban Philippines.

Based on household data recorded in National Urban Philippines from December 1, 2012 to January 4, 2013 (December 23 – January 4 based on overnight readings), Temptation of Wife registered 19.6 percent household rating, leading ABS-CBN’s A Beautiful Affair’s 18.4 percent by 1.2 points, and Kahit Puso’y Masugatan’s 13.1 percent by 6.5 points. Using the assumption of an estimated five (5) viewers per TV household, Temptation of Wife’s margins of 1.2 points and 6.5 points translate to more than 500,000 viewers and almost 3 million viewers, correspondingly.

In Urban Luzon, which comprises 77% of national urban television households, Temptation of Wife made a definite win over its counterpart programs in ABS-CBN. It scored 21.9 percent household rating, 4.7 points and 9.2 points higher than A Beautiful Affair’s 17.2 percent and Kahit Puso’y Masugatan’s 12.7 percent. The gaps of 4.7 points translate to 1.6 million viewers, while the gaps of 9.2 points translate to 3.2 million viewers.

The primetime series likewise led in Mega Manila, which represents 59.5 percent of rural TV households in the country, after generating a 22.9 percent household rating, while A Beautiful Affair and Kahit Puso’y Masugatan trailed behind by 5.9 points and 10 points with only 17 percent and 12.9 percent, respectively. The gaps of 5.9 points translate to 1.6 million viewers, while the gaps of 10 points translate to 2.7 million viewers.

This week, Angeline (Marian Rivera) continues to lure Marcel (Dennis Trillo) into her schemes. She steals his car keys and when Marcel returns to the restaurant, he is shocked to see Angeline inside his car.

Angeline asks Marcel to help her find a place since he’s in real estate business. Marcel gives in to her request and takes her to a condominium unit. As he is about to leave, he will hear someone taking a shower. How will Angeline seduce Marcel? Will he fall into her trap and get caught by Heidi (Glaiza de Castro)?

'Pahiram ng Sandali:' A Recap of the First Two Episodes!

For those who missed the first two episodes of GMA's newest primetime drama program "Pahiram ng Sandali," it's time to catch up on its exciting story. The series stars Dingdong Dantes (Alex), Max Collins (Cindy), Christopher de Leon (Philip) and Ms. Lorna Tolentino (Janice) with Alessandra de Rossi (Baby), Mark Gil (Larry), Sandy Andolong (Thea), Neil Ryan Sese (Andrew), Isabel Rivas (Diana), Kristofer Martin (Franz), among others.

Here's a summary of the said episodes:

The story began with a scene in the middle of a hostage crisis.  An exasperated bolo-wielding man threatens to end the life of an elderly woman whom he held hostage out of despair over his marital problems.

Meanwhile, an aspiring journalist named Alex Santiago (Dingdong Dantes) applies as an intern under the tutelage of Romer Alcaraz (Roy Alvarez), a veteran hard news reporter and columnist of the tabloid, "Pinoy Reporter."

As a test, Romer Alcaraz challenges Alex and three other aspirants for the job to go and cover the on-going hostage crisis and come up with a plausible news story.  Whoever gets the best angle to the story gets the job.

Alex accepted the challenge but as soon as he returns to where he had parked his motorcycle, a woman hurried away with it.  He would later learn that the woman's name is Cindy and that she had escaped from her boyfriend who attempted to take advantage of her.

Even without his motorcycle, Alex still managed to reach the site of the hostage-taking.  In his attempt to get the best viewpoint of the scene, he climbed up the roof of the house where the hostage taker and his hostage were and took a snapshot using his mobile phone through a hole in the roof.  But the structure wasn't strong enough to support his weight and so it caved in and ultimately Alex came crashing down to the floor. He fought with the infuriated hostage taker, and just as he thought he had knocked him down, he received a heavy blow on to his head from the hostage who owned the house. In the end, Alex lost his motorcycle, then his consicousness and, finally, his bid for the job.

Flashback to Alex's childhood.  Alex is an illigitimate child; He grew up not knowing who his real father is, and so he was always a favorite victim of bullies at school.  He was called by his classmates "putok sa buho" which is a derogatory phrase used to mock children who were born out of wedlock.

No longer able to withstand the bullying, Alex engaged in a fistfight with his classmates. The incident dismayed Alex's mom, Thea (Sandy Andolong). Alex demanded that his mom tell him who his father is.  In the end, Thea was left without a choice but to tell him the whole truth: that Alex's father is Larry Gomez (Mark Gil), the managing editor of "The Philippine Examiner," considered the most respected and most influential newspaper in the country.

Thea attempted to introduce Alex to his father but when she brought the boy to him, Larry drove them away.  He even offered them money and when a coin dropped to the ground, he told the boy he could take it as well.  Since then, Alex developed deep hatred against his father.  It worsened when Alex saw how much Larry loved JR, his son with Diana Gomez (Isabel Rivas), the woman who was instrumental in catapulting Larry to his present stature.

Back to present time, Thea married her suitor Berting who turned out to be a batterer.  One day, Berting beat Thea so badly that she had to be rushed to the hospital because of an injury to her spleen.  She needs to undergo a major treatment but she has no financial means to do so.

Meanwhile, Alex found out that a photo of him taken during the hostage taking incident was published in Romer's column. Infuriated, he stormed the columnist in his office.  On his way out of the building, he saw Cindy as the latter was returning his motorcycle.  He confronted Cindy for stealing his motorcycle.  Alex left hugely disappointed and accidentally drops the tabloid he was holding.  Cindy picks it up and reads about the man's misfortunes.  She felt guilty for what she did and began to feel pity for him.

Cindy learns about what had happened to Alex's mom and pleads with her Tito Larry and Tita Diana to provide Thea financial assistance (the couple has a foundation). What she did not know is that Larry is Alex's father.

Thea went through the operation thanks to Cindy's help.  Alex returns the favor by teaching Cindy how to ride a motorcycle.  This is how the two became close and eventually will become lovers.

Alex learns how wealthy Cindy's family is and gets intimidated.  But because he loves Cindy so much, he figured he should strive hard to become rich and give Cindy the kind of life that she deserves. But Cindy came to him one day and told him that they CAN'T be together.

Watch how this story continues to unfold in "Pahiram ng Sandali," airs weekday nights on GMA-7.(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)

'Temptation of Wife' with a Filipino Touch Makes a Grand Comeback This October 29!

The Koreanovela that dramatically hooked Filipino viewers to their TV screens makes a big comeback as GMA Network brings the Pinoy adaptation of the top-rating drama, TEMPTATION OF WIFE.

Starting October 29, Temptation of Wife, which scored phenomenal ratings success when it was aired twice in the network, gets a “Filipinized” version with the most bankable Kapuso actors portraying the well-loved roles in the original Korean series.

Leading the grand ensemble of cast is no less than Primetime Queen Marian Rivera as she breathes life to the character of Angeline Santos, the main protagonist of the series who will transform from a timid and submissive wife to a cunning, feisty and reformed woman to avenge herself against her husband and her best friend.

Playing the role of Angeline’s irresponsible and unfaithful husband Marcel Salcedo is award-winning dramatic actor Dennis Trillo. Dennis has clearly established himself as one of the most talented and versatile leading men in the industry and with his latest TV endeavour, he is set to show a new dimension to his acting ability and charm the hearts of millions of Filipinos.

Tasked to reprise the equally popular character of Angeline’s hard-hearted best friend Heidi Fernandez is multitalented actress Glaiza de Castro. With her new role as the ruthless Heidi, Glaiza will deliver another exceptional performance as the woman who will do anything to get what she wants even to the point of forsaking her family, betraying and even conspiring to kill her childhood best friend.

Set to portray the role of warm and caring Nigel Armada is newest Kapuso Rafael Rosell. Rafael feels very honoured and excited as he dabbles on his first primetime lead role which will surely make even more female fans swooning over him.

GMA Network is proud to present a stellar cast of the country’s most respected artists in film and television: Rio Locsin as Minda; Raymond Bagatsing as Romeo; Michelle Madrigal as Chantal Armada; Antonio Aquitania as Leo; Ayen Munji-Laurel as Lady Armada; Bettina Carlos as Madel; Rez Cortez as Abner and Ms. Cherie Gil as Stella.

Angeline and Heidi share a deep bond of friendship ever since Heidi was orphaned and was taken under the custody of Angeline’s parents, Abner and Minda. Angeline grows up responsible and compassionate while Heidi, fuelled by ambition and envy, secretly detests Angeline and always feels inferior next to her.

Many boys are attracted to Angeline but she falls in love with Marcel. It doesn’t take long before Angeline becomes pregnant and gives up on her dreams of becoming a make up artist in order to marry Marcel.

Although their marriage is void of happiness, Angeline tries to be an excellent wife to her husband, and takes good care of her in-laws, Romeo and Stella. However, she soon learns that the life she chose is full of lies and betrayals. Adding to her woes is her unexpected miscarriage.

She soon discovers that Marcel is cheating on her and shocked to learn of Heidi’s treachery. Angeline is devastated by the thought of being betrayed by the two people closest to her heart.

Marcel decides to end his affair with Heidi but Heidi is already pregnant with his child. He chooses to live with her as Angeline is forced to go back and stay with her parents. But Angeline finds out that she, too, is pregnant with Marcel’s child.

Marcel and Heidi plot to kill Angeline and disguise her death as suicide. But by a twist of fate, Angeline survives and is back for revenge. She assumes the identity of another woman and seeks out vengeance against Marcel and Heidi.

Now, it’s time for pay back and Angeline will do everything to taste the bittersweet part of her revenge. How will Marcel react to a woman who looks exactly like his supposed dead wife, Angeline? And when fate begins to favor the once oppressed Angeline, how will she turn the tables on Marcel and Heidi who once betrayed and punished her?

With Director Dominic Zapata at the helm, GMA Network’s Temptation of Wife will definitely make primetime viewing more intense and empowering with its intriguing and absorbing storyline and interesting characters.

The Philippine adaptation of the well-received Korean series, “Coffee Prince,” debuts tonight on GMA’s Telebabad primetime block.  The series stars one of the loveliest love teams on Philippine television -- Aljur Abenica and Kris Bernal.

Aljur plays the role of Arthur Ochoa, a wealthy but easy-go-lucky bachelor who is notorious for being a playboy.  Although he loves to flirt around with just any girl that comes his way, he is actually secretly in love with his half-brother’s ex-girlfriend, Arlene (portrayed by Max Collins).  Meanwhile, Kris Bernal plays the role of Andy, the exact opposite of Arthur.  In her desire to help her family make ends meet, she would take any job just to earn a living.  Somehow, in an interesting twist of fate, she and Arthur would fall for each other.

The Korean version of the series, which previously aired on GMA-7, was well-received by the Filipino audience.  Although not much of how the story goes was changed, the context around which the Filipino adaptation would revolved has been “Filipinized” to make it more relatable to local TV viewers.  Also, an additional character -- that of Steven Silva -- will be introduced.

During the story conference held over a month ago, the show’s director Ricky Davao admitted that while he is excited to work on the show, he couldn’t help but feel nervous especially since the original version was a top-rater.  However, he is confident that the good on-screen chemistry of Aljur and Kris coupled with an ensemble cast can pull it through.

Kris and Aljur, on the other hand, are both excited to be working alongside each other once again.

During the press conference of the show held last week, members of the press noticed the extraordinary closeness of the two.  Asked how special Kris is to him, Aljur’s tongue somehow slipped when he said: “sa lahat ng mga nakapartner ko, sa lahat ng naka-RELASYON ko, ibang-iba talaga si Kris.”  Oops! Does this mean that Aljur and Kris are ready to admit that they became lovers before?  When the media pressed on for Aljur to expound on what he had said, the actor simply smiled and digressed.

“Coffee Prince” airs tonight after “Luna Blanca” on GMA Telebabad.(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)

Dingdong Dantes and Kylie Padilla's TV Series 'Haram' Shelves, GMA-7 Releases Official Statement!

HARAM is a story about the love of LUIS (Dingdong Dantes) a soldier who is of Christian faith for a Muslim girl, NADI (Kylie Padilla).

Eventually, the soldier will find out that this love is "haram" (forbidden); this is the reason why Nadi's family is strictly against their friendship-much more their union.

But because Luis's love is true, he wants to prove that he only has good intentions for Nadi. This pushes him to convert to Islam, so that his love for Nadi would no longer be forbidden.

This is the story of Haram.

A story, not just of a unique kind of love, but alsoabout a Muslim family (Nadi's) and how they endeavor and strive to raise their children to be fitting and acceptable for Allah.

It is the show's intention to make the viewers understand why a relationship between a Muslim girl and a man from outside Islam is forbidden, a doctrine which is also present in other religious beliefs.

At the same time, the show aims to present the beautiful side and the dynamics of the Muslim family life in our contemporary times, and
the dynamics of religious and cultural pluralism, with the desire to promote better understanding and mutual respect among people of various faith traditions.

But because of the current tense atmosphere all over the world and in solidarity and in respect to the entire Muslim Community, GMA 7 has decided is best to shelve Haram for now.

We hope for everyone's understanding.(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)
