Philippine Azkals and Philippine Football Federation Renew Ties with ABS-CBN
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and the Philippine Azkals recently renewed their contract with ABS-CBN, which gives ABS-CBN the exclusive right to broadcast all the local matches of the Azkals and other football events of the PFF for the next four years.
ABS-CBN will also exclusively air all the international matches of the Azkals beginning 2013. ABS-CBN Vice President for Sports Peter Musngi said he is happy that ABS-CBN Sports is extending its relationship with the PFF and the Azkals as the partnership will greatly benefit the sport in the country and give the Azkals the exposure they deserve. PFF President Mariano Araneta and Azkals team manager Dan Palami, meanwhile, expressed delight over the renewal of their contract with ABS-CBN, which started in 2010, as the network has not only made possible a boost in the exposure of the Azkals in the country but also in the international scene. Palami said that through ABS-CBN’s The Filipino Channel, the team has enjoyed an increased global following, with Fil-foreigners even expressing interest in joining the Azkals after seeing them on the channel. Also present in the contract signing were ABS-CBN Chairman and CEO Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN Chief Finance Officer Rolando Valdueza and PFF legal counsel Atty. Ed Gastanes.
