Keeping it to 20 in “What's Your Number?”

An interesting cocktail of a frank and lively sexual content but with a genuine romantic heart, “What’s Your Number” winds back Ally Darling (Anna Faris) to the men she’d dated after reading a magazine article on the average number of lovers women should have in their lifetime.

Ally becomes convinced she’s reached the limit of sexual partners a woman can have before she’s deemed unmarriageable (except maybe, as Dr. Fig notes, she lives in New Zealand). With celibacy as a non-starter, Ally embarks on a mission to find a mate, without adding to her number, by seeking the colorful and strange assortment of lovers from her past; she wonders, are they married, available, gay …dead?

Having been fired from her job and at the same time an ended relationship, Ally embarks on a quest to find the best “ex” of her life, by any means necessary for her chance at true love. Helping in her quest is her new neighbor Colin, played by Chris Evans. Seeking a haven from the woman he’s brought home the night before, Colin comes to Ally’s rescue when she tries to disentangle herself from her booze-riddled mistake of the night before. Ally and Colin click, and even though Ally’s romantic sights are aimed entirely in retrospect, she has found in Colin a new friend and ally. “Ally and Colin enhance each other but don’t necessarily live for each other,” says Evans. “They’ve helped each other become better versions of themselves, but they don’t need each other to exist.”

Faris and Evans nicely balance one another, with Evans displaying a sense of grounded, physical stability while Faris provides a series of fluid, deft and comical transitions that always surprise. “When Ally and Colin meet, there’s a lot of tension between them,” notes Faris. “Ally’s kind of disgusted with Colin because she sees women coming in and out of his apartment. She thinks he’s just this man-whore. Ally wants much more for her own life, so she’s really annoyed when sees somebody who’s lackadaisical in their own lifestyle – probably because she’s envious. Eventually they come to understand one another.”

Colin comes from a family of cops and detectives, so he’s good at digging up dirt,” adds Evans. “That’s why Ally enlists his help. And he’s a bit of a womanizer, and is very ‘alpha.’ He’s a likable guy but he’s not exactly husband material. But slowly Colin realizes that Ally’s the person he’s supposed to be with, and that opens a lot more doors for him.”

Executive producer Nan Morales confirms that Ally and Colin’s first meeting is far from auspicious. “When she meets him, the audience will think, ‘No, Ally no!’ It’s like what her friends say: ‘You don’t want to go out with that guy; he’s dangerous, he’s sexy, he can trick you.’ But this is how Colin lives; he’s honest about it. This is a lesson Ally needs to learn; she needs to own who she is in order to go to the next level in her life.”

“What’s Your Number” opens October 5 in theaters from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

Talking Animals Teach “Zookeeper” The Ways of Love

In Columbia Pictures’ wild comedy “Zookeeper,” the animals at the Franklin Park Zoo love their kindhearted caretaker, Griffin Keyes (Kevin James). Finding himself more comfortable with a lion than a lady, Griffin decides the only way to get a girl in his life is to leave the zoo and find a more glamorous job. The animals, in a panic, decide to break their time-honored code of silence and reveal their biggest secret: they can talk! To keep Griffin from leaving, they decide to teach him the rules of courtship - animal style.

I have two kids and we go to the zoo all the time - their expectation is they’re going to be able to communicate with the animals,” says producer Todd Garner, explaining the project’s genesis. “So the idea was to make a movie about animals teaching a zookeeper how to find love. Our goal was to create an idea where all the fantasies of the children in all of us could come true.”

Kevin James, who co-wrote, produced, and stars in the film, plays a zookeeper at a crossroads in his life. “Griffin takes a lot of pride in his job, but after flaming out in his latest relationship, he thinks he’s got to make a clean break and move on. But the animals think he’s the best zookeeper they’ve ever had - they can’t risk losing him. So that’s when they reveal they can talk - it’s risky for them, because things tend not to go well for them when people know they can talk, but they’re in dire straits. They have no other choice.

Once the script was written, the filmmakers were able to attract a truly all-star cast of comedy voices to play the animals. “We were incredibly fortunate to get the voice cast that we have. Adam Sandler got on board first to play the monkey - and now, I can’t imagine anybody else playing that part,” says director Frank Coraci.

Adam is so talented, he could have voiced any animal in this movie, but I can’t think of a better match than the monkey,” says co-screenwriter Nick Bakay. “The monkey is one of our best animal actors - it did incredible faces and exhibits tons of personality, just like Adam.”

Cher joins the film as the zoo’s lovely and loving lioness, with Sylvester Stallone as the king of the jungle himself. Nick Nolte plays Bernie, the gruff gorilla, who becomes an unlikely friend to Griffin. The voice cast also includes Judd Apatow as Barry the elephant; Jim Breuer as a neighborhood crow; Jon Favreau and Faizon Love as Jerome and Bruce, a pair of quarreling grizzly bears; Richie Minervini as an ostrich; Maya Rudolph as a Mollie the giraffe; and UFC fighter Bas Rutten as Sebastian the wolf.

On camera, the filmmakers have also assembled a cast of equally strong actors. Rosario Dawson plays a veterinarian and eagle expert, the object of Griffin’s affections. Leslie Bibb plays Griffin’s ex-girlfriend, the one who broke his heart and sets in motion his plan to leave the zoo. Ken Jeong delivers another memorable performance as Venom, the reptile expert.

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Zookeeper” is distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Visit www.sonypictures.com.ph to see the latest trailers, get free downloads and play free movie games.

Park Min Young, Lee Min Ho's Rumored Girlfriend

Park Min Young, Lee Min Ho's love interest in SBS popular action-romance drama "City Hunter" have developed a romantic interest in each other and is said to be in real-serious relationship for more than a month.

Lee Min Ho’s agency StarHaus Entertainment told local media Dispatch, "They started to have good feelings toward each other through ‘City Hunter.’ It seems like they’re at a stage of getting to know each other right now, but I’m not sure how much those feelings developed so far."

Park Min Young’s agency King Kong Entertainment also said, "It is true the two have good, mutual feelings for each other. I think she’s (Park Min Young) trying to get to know the human-side of Lee Min Ho, not the actor Lee Min Ho. But you always have to be careful with these relationships, and the agency doesn’t know everything about the celebrity’s private life."

Someone close to the two was also quoted saying: "Lee Min Ho and Park Min Young tried to avoid making their relationship public. So they tried to be careful whenever they met. But their personalities wouldn’t allow for a secret date at home. When they met at a public space, like a restaurant or bar, they would always bring a mutual friend."

Lee Min Ho Plastic Surgery Rumor, Not True!

Lee Min Ho is rumored to have undergone plastic surgery in the past.

The rumor surfaced after Soompi website reports that a photo of "City Hunter" star posing with doctors at Star Line Plastic Surgery Clinic began circulating on the internet.

Fans and showbiz bloggers and writers immediately grabbed the news and jumped into the conclusion that Lee Min-ho had undergone a knife procedure.

However, Lee Min Ho's agency StarHaus quickly denied the rumours saying, "He took that picture three to four years ago because he's close friends with the doctors. He has never done any plastic surgery. Two years ago, he was caught up in a plastic surgery controversy because of this picture. The fact that people are making an issue out of this again is absolutely preposterous."

Shamcey Supsup Miss Universe 2011 Web Interview (Video)

Shamcey Supsup's Miss Universe 2011 journey update: Web interview

Here is the transcript of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe Shamcey Supsup web interview for Miss Universe 2011 pageant:

Do you believe in life on other planets?

Well, I believe there are other people in other planets because if we are living on earth and it's a big place... and it is small... you know... thing compared to the galaxy and another galaxy... I believe there are people out there. We just have to find them out sooner.

What advantage do women have over men?

Well, I think one advantage is that we rely on our intuition. And they always say that when a woman has an intuition, it is usually right. So we know if you are lying or not. So guys don't ever fool us.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

Hmmmm... If I'd be an animal, I wanna be bird... because I wanna fly without limit.. like see the mountains and the seas... And you know just feel free and feel the wind on my face. So I'd be a bird, any kind of bird.

You can watch other candidates web interview via YouTube HERE.

The Miss Universe 2011 pageant will be held in Sao Paulo on September 12, 2011 (September 13 Manila time) with live telecast on ABS-CBN.

Sneak Peek: “Dolphin Tale”

Warner Bros.' new, family adventure “Dolphin Tale” is inspired by the amazing true story of a brave dolphin and the compassionate strangers who banded together to save her life.

Swimming free, a young dolphin is caught in a crab trap, severely damaging her tail. She is rescued and transported to the Clearwater Marine Hospital, where she is named Winter. But her fight for survival has just begun.

Without a tail, Winter’s prognosis is dire. It will take the expertise of a dedicated marine biologist, the ingenuity of a brilliant prosthetics doctor, and the unwavering devotion of a young boy to bring about a groundbreaking miracle - a miracle that might not only save Winter but could also help scores of people around the world.

The real Winter, who plays herself in “Dolphin Tale,” today serves as a symbol of courage, perseverance and hope to millions of people - both able and disabled - who have been touched by her remarkable story of recovery and rehabilitation.

The film stars Oscar® winner Morgan Freeman as Dr. Ken McCarthy, who is given the seemingly impossible task of crafting a new prosthetic tail for Winter; Harry Connick, Jr. as Dr. Clay Haskett, who runs the Clearwater Marine Hospital; Ashley Judd as Lorraine, a single mother; Nathan Gamble as her son, Sawyer, who frees Winter from the trap and forms an instant connection with the dolphin; Cozi Zuehlsdorff as Hazel, Clay’s daughter, who befriends Sawyer; and Kris Kristofferson as Clay’s father, Reed.

“Dolphin Tale” was directed by Charles Martin Smith from a screenplay by Karen Janszen & Noam Dromi.

Colin Farrell, The Vampire-Next-Door in “Fright Night”

As darkness settles in theaters, “Fright Night” in 3D is sure to bite a brand-new generation of horror-film devotees with its imaginative take on a cult classic - a perfect blend of horror and action.

As lead actor Colin Farrell explains, “There are none of those romantic leanings. This vampire is just a killer. He’s over four hundred years old. He’s probably a little bit bored when we find him, but he feeds. He just feeds.”

A revamp of the 1985 comedy-horror classic, “Fright Night” revolves around Charley (Anton Yelchin), a high school senior who’s on top of the world - he’s running with the popular crowd and dating Amy (Imogen Poots), the most coveted girl in school. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a nice guy – at first. But there’s something not quite right, and no one else, including Charley’s mom (Toni Collette) seems to notice! After observing some very strange activity, Charley comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood.

Farrell admits he was, at first, skeptical about remaking this classic film because he holds the original in such high regard. “I was 11 or 12 years old the first time I saw ‘Fright Night,’” Farrell recalls. “I don’t want to say it’s sacrosanct,” he explains about his take on the original film, “but in a way it is and it’s kind of perfect in its own form.

So I was frustrated when I read the script,” he continues, “because it was so good, I really wanted to do it! Just like the original, it seemed to straddle the line between horror and a kind of sweet tongue-in-cheek comedy.”

The entire cast seems like a hypothetical wish list, beginning with Farrell, who was the filmmakers’ first choice to play Jerry, the centuries-old vampire. “I was so excited that we could get him,” says director Craig Gillespie about casting Farrell in the complex lead role. “I couldn’t think of anyone more perfect. As written, Jerry’s an incredibly charismatic personality, but there is a sinister aspect to him too. I thought Colin would embody that perfectly.”

Farrell, clearly delighted to be baring vampire fangs, says, “When I met Craig, he was enthusiastic and had a very clear idea of how he wanted to tell this story. I want to say it was a no-brainer for me to want to be in his film. It really was a pretty easy decision.”

Essential in Farrell's portrayal of the vampire is a little help from the special-effects makeup department to aid his facial transformations. The filmmakers wanted to peg Jerry’s transformations to the heat of the moment. As his anger increases, so, too, does his more demonic physical changes. Subtle in the beginning, the process is ramped up throughout the film.

Farrell was definitely up for the task of wearing all six stages of Jerry’s vampire makeups. “That’s sort of unheard of for actors,” says make-up designer Howard Berger. “But Colin is a trouper, and I think he felt like it was Halloween every day. He is, by far, one of my favorite actors to do makeup on, aside from just being one of my favorite people as well.”

The different stages of Jerry’s transformation were actually an experience that Farrell very much enjoyed, mainly because of the artistry of the makeup team. Offering enthusiastic praise, the actor says, “They’ve done an amazing job. They’re Academy® Award–winning makeup artists, and it was a blast to be around them. The days were long, but it was incredible from the get-go.

Opening soon across the Philippines, “Fright Night is a DreamWorks Picture distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International through Columbia Pictures.

Internet-Predator Thriller “Trust” Exclusive at Ayala Mall Cinemas September 7

David Schwimmer, best-known for playing Ross in the hit TV sitcom “Friends,” now directs Millenium Films' psychological thriller “Trust” which stars Clive Owen, Catherine Keener and Viola Davis. The critically acclaimed film on the dangers of Internet relationships will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma) starting September 7.

When Annie, a 14-year-old girl, is seduced by a 41-year-old internet predator she knows only as "Charlie," it tears apart her family. While her father, Will (Owen) becomes obsessed with revenge fantasies, Annie enters therapy, where she refuses to admit she's been victimized.

David Schwimmer is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Rape Foundation in Santa Monica and has been supporting their work at the Rape Treatment Center for more than ten years. He has met many victims and their families, and has heard many stories, but a few years ago one particular father’s account stood out.

It inspired the actor-director to create a film about online predators in today’s Internet age. Director Schwimmer explains, “One of our invited speakers was a father in the community who spoke about the process of coming to terms with his daughter being groomed, and subsequently raped, by an Internet predator. He described his conflicting feelings of guilt, rage, pain, impotence and responsibility and how it nearly destroyed him and his family. His incredibly frank and revealing story profoundly affected me and I realized then that I had found an unusual path into dramatizing this delicate and difficult subject matter in a way that everyone - especially men - can relate to.”

Co-Producer Tom Hodges, who has partnered with David Schwimmer for almost ten years in their joint venture of Dark Harbor Stories, reveals, “I’ve known David for 25 years and what a lot of people don’t know is he is a fantastic story teller. Even though people associate him with comedy, he can handle drama just as easily. After all, he’s been directing theater for twenty years with his Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago.”

He continues, “David is looking for stories that challenge him and the audience. He’s looking for stories that do more than entertain - he’s drawn to stories that ask questions, that make you think. That maybe even inspire people to take action.”

The fact that this particular story was something that David Schwimmer wanted to direct as a feature film became a project that they would develop under their Dark Harbor Stories banner.

Schwimmer enlisted the help of his long-time buddy Andy Bellin, who published the novel Poker Nation some years ago, to write the screenplay about the Internet grooming of underage children and its threat to today’s families.

Regarding their collaboration, Screenwriter Bellin allows, “David was a huge, integral part in the writing process. He took me to a benefit for the Rape Treatment Center to help me understand his passion for this organization and the work that they do - particularly with child victims of rape and sexual assault.”

He continues, “We both agreed that we didn’t want to go the route of a revenge action thriller like `Taken.' We wanted to make this movie a very real drama, almost in the vein of `Ordinary People.' What we hope is that this movie starts a dialogue for parents and their children about Internet safety; and how sometimes the Internet can be the ‘Scary Uncle’ that no one wants to acknowledge.”

Soderbergh Says “Contagion” Grounded in Real Science, Possibilities

Steven’s movies don’t leave any fat on the bone. They’re lean and fast.” That’s how Matt Damon describes the films of Steven Soderbergh whose latest project, Warner Bros.’ global thriller “Contagion” stars Damon, along with Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow.

For a subject like this, that pace mirrors the progression of the infection itself and how things spiral very quickly out of control, so you want that sense of acceleration,” adds Damon. “Steven knows exactly how to keep multiple threads alive and cut back to each one at the right time. The story really moves.

“Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

It’s not often you get the opportunity to make a movie that touches on themes that resonate with everyone, and can also be an entertaining thriller,” says Soderbergh. “When [screenwriter] Scott Z. Burns and I talked about doing a serious film about a pandemic, I thought that because of what’s been happening in the world, plus all the advances in medicine and technology, we had to approach it in an ultra-realistic manner.” He admits, “Having been through the research now, I will never again think the same way about how we interact with one another. You cannot immerse yourself in this world and not be forever altered by your awareness of it.

That awareness, one of the film’s themes, is amplified as the virus spreads.

What makes “Contagion” so frightening on both an intellectual and a visceral level is that, while fictional, it is grounded in real science and real possibilities - and seen through the drama of individual lives and relationships that could soon be lost or forever changed. “It’s important that these characters feel like real people and not just medical experts or professionals in their field,” says Kate Winslet, who stars as a doctor working in one of the disease’s first identified hot-spots. “You’re accessing the world of this epidemic through human channels.”

Amid recent warnings of antibiotic-resistant superbugs and the ever-present concern over potential weaponization of biological agents, “we didn’t have to make anything up that wasn’t true, in a sense, to make it a more terrifying ride,” says Gregory Jacobs, Soderbergh’s longtime producing partner. “I love a good zombie movie, but we know that’s not real. The impact here comes from dealing with a horror set in our own backyards that manifests, at first, like the common cold. People look normal, they’re functional, so they move around and spread it without being aware. No one realizes there’s cause for concern until they’re critical. And by then it’s too late.”

I think it’s going to be shocking and dramatic and a little upsetting,” says Jude Law of the film’s potential impact on audiences. “Also relevant in ways you don’t necessarily think about every day. Not touching door handles, and coughing into your hand as opposed to your elbow….suddenly all these little things start fizzing at the forefront of your consciousness.

Opening across the Philippines in September, “Contagion” is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment company.
