'Teen Gen' Banners the Newest GMA Youth-Oriented Show!

After several months of its intensive search for the next batch of TV sensations, GMA Network finally comes up with the coveted list of promising faces that will banner the upcoming youth-oriented series, TEEN GEN.

Fresh from winning in Protégé, Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino land their first project in the Kapuso Station as they lead the promising cast of Teen Gen. They will portray the roles of Tiago and Angge in the series, respectively.

On being part of the much anticipated project, Jeric shares "Ito na ang umpisa ng aking mga pangarap kaya excited ako sa project na ito. Nakaka-pressure kaya kailangan naming galingan at patunayan na karapat-dapat kami for the show"

Meanwhile, Thea expresses her gratitude as she embarks on her first project. "Sobrang happy ko po. God has been so good to me and I will give all my best sa Teen Gen."

Also, TEEN GEN brings back the kilig tandem of Bobby Andrews and Angelu de Leon as they once again breathe to life to the characters from the phenomenal T.G.I.S series Wacks and Peachy.

Completing the cast of TEEN GEN are - Juancho Trivino as Lucho, Dianne Hernandez as Lyca, Abel Estanislao as JV, Gianna Revilla as Madison, Seth Isay as Itos, Sunyee Maluche as Drew, Gab de Leon as Jeff and Arkin Magalona as Mackenzie.

TEEN GEN is under the helm of film and TV director Mark Reyes, the man behind the very successful youth series in the 90's produced by GMA and Viva, T.G.I.S., together with Kit Villanueva - Langit as creative consultant/headwriter.

Direk Mark looks back to the happy memories of creating the unparalleled youth program which also launched the careers of today's respected actors in the industry.

As he puts it, "18 years ago, I was given the opportunity to create a youth oriented show for a Saturday afternoon which had a non-existent audience market. With the courage of ignorance, we broke the norms of Philippine TV by doing a light drama-comedy, which was unheard of in the traditional soap dominated  1990's. We got an inspiration from the fast rising MTV channel in terms of visual treatment and fashion styles. Our 1st season was shaky. T.G.I.S. was branded too "bourgeois" or too upper class for the masa market. But come the 2nd season, it skyrocketed to the TV phenomenon that it was, prompting the rival network to copy our format after a year. Now, with much excitement and bravado from experience, the original director and writer bring back T.G.I.S as TEEN GEN. Expect a new generation of young stars and T.G.I.S. alumni Bobby and Angelu to bring back youthful family entertainment for both young and not so young who are now parents to teenagers."

Witness the highs and lows of teenage life as TEEN GEN premieres on December 16 after Party Pilipinas on GMA.

Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino Debut in the T.G.I.S. Remake, Bobby Andrews and Angelu De Leon Reprise Their Original Roles!

The hit teen-oriented show of GMA-7 is set to make a comeback this coming month of yuletide. And it combines the hottest stars of the new and the previous generations!

Original T.G.I.S. cast members Bobby Andrews and Angelu de Leon will reprise their roles as "Joaquin/Wacks" and "Peachy" as the 90s teen-oriented drama series makes a grand comeback this December.

Of course, Bobby and Angelu will have to take the back seat this time as the show introduces its new generation of teen stars consisting of seven new faces, which were taken from the auditions held especially for the series, plus "Protege" grand winners Jerick Gonzales and Thea Tolentino. The cast members will be formally introduced to the public on November 16 in Party Pilipinas.

Unlike the original T.G.I.S., which stood for "Thank God It's Sabado," the new one will air every Sunday after Party Pilipinas -- there shouldn't be a problem with the title since "S" could also stand for Sunday.  It will be directed by the original directors of the show, Mark Reyes and Dominic Zapata.

The original series ran for four years from 1995 to 1999. Among the original cast members of T.G.I.S are Dingdong Dantes, Antoinette Taus, Sunshine Dizon, Polo Ravales, Anne Curtis, Kim Delos Santos, Onemig Bondoc, Rica Peralejo and Ciara Sotto.

The 2012 version of T.G.I.S. premieres December 16 after Party Pilipinas on GMA-7.(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)

The Winning Moments of Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino Being the 'Protege' Champs!

It's a back-to-back celebration for South Luzon as two contestants from Laguna -- Jeric Gonzales and Thea Tolentino -- were hailed as the grand winners of GMA's biggest and grandest artista search, "Protege: The Battle For The Big Artista Break," during its live finale held on Sunday at the GMA Network Studios.

The two winners bagged a grand prize package worth P12 million consisting of a cash prize of P1 million each from SM Supermalls, a five-year talent management contract with GMA Artist Center and a two-bedroom condominium unit (for each winner) from Suntrust Properties, Inc.  Additionally, all six finalists (including the winners) received a four-year scholarship grant from STI Colleges.

Check out the winning moments of Jeric and The below during the result's night:

Apart from the grand prize, Jeric also won the "Texters' Choice Award" from GMA New Media, Inc.

"Talagang na-shock ako kasi sobrang hirap talaga ng pinagdaanan namin sa Protege, tapos hindi ko akalain na ako yung tatanghaling Protege male winner.  Sobrang masaya po ako," shared Jeric in an interview immediately after the live gala.

Although early into the competition the 19-year old "kilig cutie" from Laguna already seemed to emerge as a crowd favorite, he did not expect that last night's finale was his to claim until his name was announced as winner.

"Na-shock talaga ako nung marinig ko yung pangalan ko; hindi ako nakapagsalita.  Nang mag-sink in na sa sarili ko na ako yung nanalo, naiyak nalang talaga ako," he said.

For 16-year old Thea, winning the competition was something that she had aways hoped for but never thought would actually happen.

"Talagang ang iniisip kong mananalo ay si Elle kasi lagi niyang napapa-wow ang judges, lagi siya ang mataas, at mataas din ang text votes niya kaya inisip ko na siya ang mananalo," shared Thea. "Sobrang nagulat po ako kasi sobrang unexpected ito.  Talagang mahiyain ako noon tapos hindi ko akalain na mananalo ako dito kaya sobrang saya ko," she added.

Asked about what he is going to do with his winnings, Jeric said he is planning to invest his cash prize in a business.  On the other hand, Thea is planning to save her cash prize for college.  Jeric is a B.S. Nursing graduate, while Thea is yet to graduate from high school next year.

Jeric and Thea were not the only ones who went home victorious last night.  Their respective mentors, Jolina Magdangal (Jeric) and Gina Alajar (Thea), also received a cash prize of P500,000 each.

Finale Performances

Apart from being an intense culmination of the battle for the big artista break, last night's finale also served as a reunion of all the Top 20 proteges and the mentors.  The fourteen former Protege contestants joined the Final Six -- Jeric Gonzales, Thea Tolentino, Ruru Madrid, Zandra Summer, Mikoy Morales and Elle Ramirez -- in the show's opening and also in a heart-warming finale number rendered just before the announcement of winners.

In their final bid to impress the judges and the viewers, the Final Six showed their acting skills for the last time in the competition by acting alongside prime kapuso stars: Thea Tolentino with Heart Evangelista (Luna Blanca), Jeric Gonzales with Kris Bernal (Coffee Prince), Ruru Madrid with Barbie Forteza (Paroa: Ang Kuwento ni Mariposa), Mikoy Morales with Andrea Torres (Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga), Zandra Summer with Ryan Eigenmann (Magdalena) and a solo performance by Elle Ramirez (Aso ni San Roque).

The mentors -- Philip Salvador, Ricky Davao, Gina Alajar, Roderick Paulate and Jolina Magdangal -- also took the center stage and rendered a dance number to the delight of the audience and their respective proteges.

"Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break" began scouring the country in May to search for individuals who have what it takes to become future stars. The nationwide auditions drew in thousands of aspirants from Mega Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, each one hoping to take a chance at stardom.  The show presented its Top 20 proteges to the public during its first gala night held on August 5.(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)

Jeric and Elle's Performance Bow the Judges in the 'Protege Final Battle!'

Now on its second to the last Gala Night of the hit GMA-7's artista reality search "Protege: The Battle for the Big Artista Break,"  the final six showed their outstanding performances. The final six sang, danced, act, and performed a monologue respectively on the stage.

But on tonight's episode, the top two performers who got the bow from the four judges were Jeric Gonzales from the main division and Elle Ramirez from the female.

The two performers have something in common - both of them portrayed a mentally ill person!

Elle performed a monologue portraying the modern Sisa! At first, she was wearing a Filipiniana looking for her sons Basilo and Crispin. But in the middle of her performance, she removed her traditional costume turning her to a sexy lady performing a hit "Mama Sisa" remix!

Jeric on the other hand sung ala Adam Lambert! The stage and his outfit depicted a winter sonata feel! In the VTR, he acted with Andrea Torres and Mikael Daez. He was an employee of Mikael but was fired in the office. With his situation, he turned crazy leading him to hostage Andrea!

Jeric and Elle truly shone on the night! Do you think they two will be the second big winner of "Protege?" Who among the six hopefuls are your bets?!(www.tvseriescraze.blogspot.com)
