Albert Martinez: From King of Yangdon in 'Princess and I' to King of Aswangs in 'Juan Dela Cruz!'

Albert Martinez created a remarkable role playing King Anand, the good and respected King of Yangdon in the recently concluded hit royal-serye "Princess and I." Now, he will create another remarkable character as he portrays another exciting and extra-ordinary role!

From a good and handsome king of a beautiful palace in Bhutan, Albert now portrays another king role. This time, he turns as the King of the Aswangs in the newest superhero fantaserye "Juan Dela Cruz"!

Far from his character in "Princess and I," Albert in this newest teleserye is bad, killer, and antagonist. He kills people. He conquers with darkness and evilness! For him, "ang mga tao ay pagkain!"  

In the series, Albert camouflages himself as the rich businessman Samuel. He lives in wealth with his family - with his wife Zsa Zsa Padilla and his son Aaron Villaflor. But, he is aiming to dominate the world with darkness! At night, he turns to be a powerful monster!

Albert is also the long-lost father of Coco Martin's character as Juan Dela Cruz. He didn't know that he has a son to the human and cross caretaker Amelia (Mylene Dizon). His real son is actually his mortal enemy! This is the great twist which makes the story of "Juan Dela Cruz" more exciting and far from the usual teleseryes we used to watch before!

Playing the character of an aswang and a villain at the same time once more proves the versatility of Albert Martinez as an actor! In the Kapamilya network, Albert already did different remarkable characters. He played as the powerful mayor Enrique in "May Bukas Pa" (2009), as a pirate captain and father of Princess Sarah in "Princess Sarah" (2007), as the head pilot in "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" (2010), and as King Anand of Yangdon Kingdom in "Princess and I" (2012).

This is also the second time that Albert and Coco play the character of father and son. Yes in 2010, Albert already played as father to Ringo (Coco Martin) in the hit Kimerald teleserye "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo." Coco in the said TV series was the son of Albert and Jacklyn Jose.

TV Series Review: "Juan Dela Cruz" Advanced Screening Touches the Hearts of Filipinos!

"Hindi mahalaga ang pinagmulan, mas mahalaga ang iyong patutunguhan..." This is the line from Father Cito played by Jaime Fabregas of the newest superhero fantaserye "Juan Dela Cruz." This is one of the most remarkable lines from ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida offering which makes the said teleserye not just an ordinary fantasy TV series which we used to know. 

 At first, I thought that this TV series is a common fantaserye that we already watched before since it tackles Aswang ("aswang na naman") and puts another superhero. But after watching the full pilot week of the series, my expectation eventually increases to the highest level! 

First of all, I really appreciate the cinematography of the series. Yes, it outburst the common Pinoy teleseryes we usually watched as it uses the modern technology uplifting the quality of Filipino TV series. As they say, "Juan Dela Cruz is a movie put on TV! Para kang nanonood ng isang dekalibreng pelikula!" And I truly agreed on this!  

I love how the TV series started. On the first part, it uses the animated story-telling! It's like a Pinoy cartoon that narrates the origin of the aswang and the katutubo battle! And it touches a part of the Philippine culture!

When the character of Albert Martinez playing the Hari ng Aswang appeared as well as the other aswang creatures, the TV series reminded me of the hit top-grossing Hollywood film "Avatar." Yes, the quality, the effects can now surpass the film! "Pulido ang pagkakagawa!"   

When Mylene Dizon playing the character of Amelia, the mother of Coco Martin gave birth to him, loud screams and applause were heard all over the cinema! And this started featuring the moral values of the story. 

The young Juan (played by the newbie child star) was then raised by Father Cito since his mother died after giving birth to him. Father Cito teaches the child all the good values he must posses. This is the time when the good priest uttered remarkable lines of good Filipino values. Some of these are: "Hindi mo dapat parusahan ang taong wala pang ginagawang kasalanan;" "kung ano ang idinidikta ng lipunan sa tao ay ito ang gagawin niya:" and "Hindi mahalaga ang pinagmulan, mas mahalaga ang iyong patutunguhan!"     

This is the second time that the veteran actor Jaime Fabregas played a priest in a TV series. The first one was in the phenomenal hit inspirational series "May Bukas Pa" in 2009. Though he has a short appearance in "Juan Dela Cruz," his presence was truly much felt!

And of course, the series emphasized our strong religious belief! It even uses the holy cross as a tool or a weapon of a superhero to save us from the devil and to fight the dark creatures! Now you know what the word "cruz" in the title exactly pertains to!     

Even the title of the teleserye is very Filipino - Juan Dela Cruz. This name will truly uplift the Filipinos all over the world!

The series also combines action, drama, fantasy, romance, and comedy. You will not get bored watching it since it gives you all the genres of a high quality film!

Angeline Quinto: The "Teleserye Theme Songs Queen" Turns "Teleserye Darling!"

 

  

Angeline Quinto is dubbed as the "Teleserye Theme Songs Queen" after singing majority of the theme songs of the different Kapamilya hit TV series. Now, she got a new title called "Teleserye Darling" as she leads in her very first Primetime TV series!

Angeline admitted that she is very blessed last 2012 and this 2013. Last year, Angeline's voice were heard in the different teleseryes after singing their theme songs. These songs even topped the hit list and became favorite songs played in the different radio stations. She was even launched in a movie playing a lead role and paired to Coco Martin via Star Cinema's romantic-comedy-drama "Born to Love You." This year, Angeline steps to another milestone in her career as she leads the newest teleserye, "Kahit Konting Pagtingin" which is also her very first TV series!

In the new soap, Angeline is paired to two of the country's hottest hunk leading men Paulo Avelino and Sam Milby. She is playing the character of Aurora, a simple girl who is pursuing to achieve her goals and help her family. 

Unlike in real life, Angeline's character in the show is not a singer. "Hindi po ako marunong kumanta dito. Pero maririnig nyo po ang malakas na boses ko sa bus kase po ako ay isang konduktora," Angeline shared. But Angeline and Aurora share same thing in real life. "Pareho po kami ni Aurora na nangarap at patuloy na nagpupursige para maabot ito," Angeline added.

Another fun question was asked to Angeline during the grand presscon of their teleserye. This was about her former leading man Coco Martin and her new leading man Sam Milby comparing their kisses. "Si Coco po local samantalang 'ung kay Sam imported, so dun po ako sa imported," Angeline promptly answered generating louder laughs from the audience!

Angeline's costars in the teleserye like John Lapuz and Snooky Serna even shared positive things about the young actress-singer. according to them, "Napakabait na bata niyang si Angeline at very humble and down to earth. Sana 'wag syang magbago. Ang sarap niyang katrabaho!"

Angeline is also happy that she is now working with the veteran stars in the teleserye like Snooky, Tommy Abuel, and Mylene Dizon. "Masaya po ako na katrabaho si Ms. Snooky. Bata pa lang po ako pinapanood at hinahangaan ko na po siya," Angeline expressed.

Angel Locsin-Coco Martin Tandem in a TV Series Postponed, Erich Gonzales Replaces Angel in 'Juan Dela Cruz!'

The much awaited teamup of Angel Locsin and Coco Martin for the upcoming ABS-CBN teleserye will not anymore prosper for the meantime! Angel then is replaced by Erich Gonzales as Coco's leading lading in the epic series "Juan Dela Cruz!"

Angel and Coco is supposed to be paired in the said fantaserye granting the wishing of million viewers. But due to certain circumstances, the 'dream love team' is postponed!       

According to reports, Angel is given a new teleserye this coming 2013 so she needs to pull out from this project. Hmmm...do you think this said TV series project for Angel is "Darna," "Imortal Part 2," or a fresh new teleserye?! 

You may recall that way back in 2010, Angel is supposed to be paired with Vhong Navarro in the fantaserye "Si Kokey @ Ako," but Angel was also pulled out and replaced with Toni Gonzaga since Angel was given a bigger TV series which was "Imortal" with John Lloyd Cruz. Now will history repeat itself in this case for "Juan Dela Cruz"?!

Meanwhile, Erich replaced Angel for this teleserye. And they were starting tapping for the series.

"Juan Dela Cruz" is supposed to be one of the entries to the MMFF 2012 but it was rejected along with 6 other scripts. Therefore, Deo Edrinal decided to put it instead in a TV series. 

"Juan Dela Cruz" will be ABS-CBN's opening salvo for 2013. It is helmed by Malu Sevilla.

'Walang Hanggan' is Still on Top Until the End!

ABS-CBN's phenomenal TV drama “Walang Hanggan,” topbilled by Richard Gomez, Dawn Zulueta, Susan Roces, Helen Gamboa, Melissa Ricks, Joem Bascon, Paulo Avelino, Julia Montes, and Coco Martin, recently ended on a high note as its finale soared high in the ratings game and dominated the worlwide trending topics on Twitter.

Based on the latest data of Kantar Media last Friday (October 26), ABS-CBN’s top-rating drama series garnered 45.4% national TV ratings, or more than 29 points ahead versus the farewell episode of its rival program in GMA “Luna Blanca” which only got 16.1%.

Aside from winning the ratings game, “Walang Hanggan” also conquered the popular microblogging site Twitter as hashtags #WalangHangganFinale, Katerina, Paulo Avelino, and RIP Daniel became worldwide trending topics due to the numerous tweets of TV viewers about the touching scenes of Daniel (Coco) and Katerina’s (Julia) deaths. The viewers were captivated by the charm of the child star Yogo as he played the young Daniel in the early episodes of the hit TV series. After playing the said character, Yogo landed a lead role in the ABS-CBN's fantaserye "Wako Wako."

The ending of the Philippine's phenomenal hit TV series "Walang Hanggan" surprises many viewers. This is when the lead characters, Daniel (Coco Martin) and Katerina (Julia Montes) died!

Right after the death of Katerina, Daniel got a struggle with Tomas (Joem Bascon). He gunshot Daniel leaving him bloody and lifeless in the grave of Katerina!

The ending was not a sad one. Indeed, it was another happy-ending as Daniel and Katerina reunited in heaven! The teleserye left many viewers in teary eyes as Daniel and Katerina live together in heaven with their eternal love.
