When the story of a love triangle among young stars Sarah Geronimo, Rayver Cruz, and Cristine Reyes made headlines last year, there was one person who chose not to speak about the issue - Sarah. But this March, she finally breaks her silence as she grants an exclusive interview to YES! magazine, revealing the details of her very first real heartbreak.
YES! pieces the tale together by speaking to all of the people who played both major and minor parts in the entire story. The 39-page article airs the sides of Sarah's mom Mommy Divine, her close friends Sharon Cuneta, Judy Ann Santos, and Beth Tamayo, personal assistant Anna Dasig, loveteam partner John Lloyd Cruz, Cristine, Rayver, and Sarah herself.
A four-hour interview with Mommy Divine in the Geronimo household reveals her devotion to her family, a devotion that many have criticized as overprotectiveness. Mommy Divine admits that she does not think Sarah is ready to entertain suitors.
She says that Sarah is too naive, too trusting, and thus, requires her guidance.
She also tells YES! about her belief that God will provide the right partner for her daughter, and that it is through her, as Sarah's mother, that His will shall be revealed.
Waiting was something Rayver was willing to do, as he knew that loving Sarah would not be easy. He admits to YES! that he and Sarah had been together for a year, but theirs was not a normal relationship—they could only communicate through text messages and web conversations via Skype, and exchange meaningful looks when passing each other in the hallways of ABS-CBN.
Kasi, papa'no mo nagagawa 'yan? Bilib ako sa 'yo.' Lahat sila," he says.
In the one year that he and Sarah had been together, they were only by themselves twice - once for a mere 30 seconds, and another time for 30 minutes. It was becoming more and more difficult for Rayver to keep the promise he had made to Sarah.
Sarah knew how hard it might be for him to wait, and she tells YES!, "Sabi ko po sa kanya noon, 'Alam ko na darating 'yong panahon na may babae talaga na libre, na puwede mong makasama.'
Past television interviews, heated messages over the microblogging site Twitter, and comments from all camps have all given the general public an idea of how this story began, what happened in the middle, and how it all came to an end. But only YES! can shed light on all the details kept from the public eye.
