'Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga" Airs Its Final Week, Still Remains to be as the Undisputed Afternoon TV Series!

Mikael Daez and Andrea Torres’ first GMA Afternoon Prime offering makes waves as it consistently leads the television ratings nationwide since it premiered last September 3, 2012.

According to the data gathered by the more widely recognized TV ratings supplier, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga (SAINN) marked an average household tv rating of 15.1% against its competing program Kung Ikaw ay Iiwan Mo which only gathered an average of 10.1% from September 3 to November 16, 2012 based on nationwide data.

For the period November 19, 2012 to January 25, 2013 (January 20-25 based on overnight data), SAINN also went ahead of the rival network’s newly launched program PHR Paraiso. SAINN registered a commanding average tv rating of 15.1% while the competing program only scored an average of 8.7%.

Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga was also ahead of its competitors in the viewer-rich areas of Urban Luzon and Mega Manila.

Mikael shares that having his first lead teledrama is one of the highlights of his career. “I will surely miss portraying the character of Carlos Miguel. It opened so many doors for me and I’ll be forever thankful to all the people who supported me and Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga” he added.

Meanwhile, Andrea gets emotional knowing that SAINN is on its finale week. “Nakakalungkot man na matatapos na yung programa na minahal namin at ng mga manonood, natutuwa naman ako na sobrang tinutukan ang aming programa at nangunguna pa sa ratings. Albert Martinez: From King of Yangdon in 'Princess and I' to King of Aswangs in 'Juan Dela Cruz!'

Albert is also the long-lost father of Coco Martin's character as Juan Dela Cruz. He didn't know that he has a son to the human and cross caretaker Amelia (Mylene Dizon). His real son is actually his mortal enemy! This is the great twist which makes the story of "Juan Dela Cruz" more exciting and far from the usual teleseryes we used to watch before!

Playing the character of an aswang and a villain at the same time once more proves the versatility of Albert Martinez as an actor! In the Kapamilya network, Albert already did different remarkable characters. He played as the powerful mayor Enrique in "May Bukas Pa" (2009), as a pirate captain and father of Princess Sarah in "Princess Sarah" (2007), as the head pilot in "Kung Tayo'y Magkakalayo" (2010), and as King Anand of Yangdon Kingdom in "Princess and I" (2012).

TV Series Review: "Juan Dela Cruz" Advanced Screening Touches the Hearts of Filipinos!

"Hindi mahalaga ang pinagmulan, mas mahalaga ang iyong patutunguhan..." This is the line from Father Cito played by Jaime Fabregas of the newest superhero fantaserye "Juan Dela Cruz." This is one of the most remarkable lines from ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida offering which makes the said teleserye not just an ordinary fantasy TV series which we used to know. 

 At first, I thought that this TV series is a common fantaserye that we already watched before since it tackles Aswang ("aswang na naman") and puts another superhero. But after watching the full pilot week of the series, my expectation eventually increases to the highest level! 

First of all, I really appreciate the cinematography of the series. Yes, it outburst the common Pinoy teleseryes we usually watched as it uses the modern technology uplifting the quality of Filipino TV series. As they say, "Juan Dela Cruz is a movie put on TV! Para kang nanonood ng isang dekalibreng pelikula!" And I truly agreed on this!  

I love how the TV series started. On the first part, it uses the animated story-telling! It's like a Pinoy cartoon that narrates the origin of the aswang and the katutubo battle! And it touches a part of the Philippine culture!

When the character of Albert Martinez playing the Hari ng Aswang appeared as well as the other aswang creatures, the TV series reminded me of the hit top-grossing Hollywood film "Avatar." Yes, the quality, the effects can now surpass the film! "Pulido ang pagkakagawa!"   

When Mylene Dizon playing the character of Amelia, the mother of Coco Martin gave birth to him, loud screams and applause were heard all over the cinema! And this started featuring the moral values of the story. 

The young Juan (played by the newbie child star) was then raised by Father Cito since his mother died after giving birth to him. Father Cito teaches the child all the good values he must posses. This is the time when the good priest uttered remarkable lines of good Filipino values. Some of these are: "Hindi mo dapat parusahan ang taong wala pang ginagawang kasalanan;" "kung ano ang idinidikta ng lipunan sa tao ay ito ang gagawin niya:" and "Hindi mahalaga ang pinagmulan, mas mahalaga ang iyong patutunguhan!"     

This is the second time that the veteran actor Jaime Fabregas played a priest in a TV series. The first one was in the phenomenal hit inspirational series "May Bukas Pa" in 2009. Though he has a short appearance in "Juan Dela Cruz," his presence was truly much felt!

"Del Monte Kitchenomics" New Season Opens with Two New Hosts Eugene Domingo and Chef Dino Ferrari!

  

"Del Monte Kitchenomics" is one of the remarkable and legendary cooking show which many of us truly grew up with. Now, it returns on TV with its new season and with its new hosts.

On the recent press launch of the cooking show which took place on GMA Network, Del Monte and GMA-7 announced the newest duo that will give us unique recipe on the new season. They are the celebrity chef Dino Ferrari and the award-winning comedy actress Ms. Eugene Domingo. 

The event started with a live cooking demo of Chef Dino. He demonstrated his style of cooking his own recipe called the "Hawaiian Steak." With the use of the different products from Del Monte, his recipe captured the taste of the guest, audience, press, and bloggers present on the said launch.

 Eugene expressed her excitement being part of the cooking show. "80's pa lang napapanood ko na ito sa TV. And now, ang sayang isipin na bahagi na ako ng programang ito." Eugene expressed. "Ang sarap ma-ilinya kina Nora Daza, Connie Reyes, Maricel Laxa, and Jolina Magdangal na naging mga hosts ng show na ito dati," Eugener further added.    

In terms of cooking, Eugene shared the recipes that she will serve. She further revealed the magic of Del Monte pineapple tidbits. "Na-discover ko na ung mga simpleng ulam sumasarap pag hinaluan mo ng pineapple tidbits," Eugene shared.

When asked if what kind of dish he will serve to his co-host Eugene, the chef answered, “I will serve my signature dish, salmon with white-chocolate wasabi sauce and crostini on the sides. It’s an amazing recipe, believe me!” 

 Chef Dino is a product of a reality cooking show. He won in the “Next Celebrity Chef” reality cooking competition on the Asian Food Channel (AFC) last year. He bested 34 other finalists from different countries including his runner-up Glenda Barretto who happens to be Filipino, too!

Erich Gonzales Plays Grace Poe-Llamanzares in 'MMK!'

Erich Gonzales will portray former Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairperson Grace Poe-Llamanzares in Maalaala Mo Kaya this Saturday, February 2, 2013.

The 22-year-old actress has been chosen to play the role of the former MTRCB Chairman and now Senatorial candidate. Tonton Gutierrez will portray Fernando Poe, Jr. while Sheryl Cruz will play Susan Roces.

In an interview by ABS-CBN News, Erich said it’s an honor to portray the life of Grace Poe.

“Isa nga pong malaking karangalan na gumanap bilang isang Ms. Grace Poe dito sa life story niya. Makikita natin ‘yung mga pinagdaanan niya, nung bata siya, nung paglaki niya, ‘yung relationship niya po sa mga magulang niya, na king and queen and Philippine movies,” she said.

The 44-year-old Poe-Llamanzares is the adopted daughter of the late Fernando Poe, Jr. and veteran actress Susan Roces, and the half-sister of Kapuso actress Lovi Poe.

Gonzales prepared for this project by watching Poe-Llamanzares’ interviews in order to emulate her mannerisms, behavior and the way she talks.

Zaijan Jaranilla Teaches Us the Value of Contentment in 'Wansapanataym!'

Kapamilya child wonder Zaijian Jaranillla will teach fellow kids that nothing good will come out from doing bad things as he teaches the value of contentment in the continuation of his "Wansapanataym" special this Saturday (February 2).

In the episode ‘Nicolas Layas,’ Zaijian takes on the role of Nicolas, a young boy who grew up with a wealthy lifestyle.

When his parents’ business went bankrupt, Nicolas’ family was forced to work on a tight budget and transfer into a much smaller house. Because of this, Nicolas felt bad and decided to run away from home, thinking that he will be much better off away from his family.

In the end, will Nicolas learn to be contented with what his family has and realize that running away from home is a bad thing to do?

'Magpakailanman' Tells the Life Story of a Rabies Victim!

For most dog owners, their pets are more than just their bestfriends.  Oftentimes, they are more like family.  Such was the case with Eduardo Sese -- that was before his beloved pet unwittingly ended his life due to rabies.

Sese was a poor familyman in the province of Pampanga. Although he was undereducated and lacked the skills that would land him a good job, he was a righteous man.

He may not have the perfect family and marriage, at least he had his dogs to turn to in his times of despair.  What he didn't expect was that his closeness with his canine friends would cost him his own life.

One day one of the puppies accidentally bit on Sese's finger, and since he didn't realize how harmful that bite could be, he didn't bother to get an anti-rabies shot.

After some time, Sese's family noticed several oddities in his behavior.  Suddenly, he became afraid of the wind and avoided water, tell-tale signs of rabies. Soon, his behavior became animal-like and he began to manifest dog-like characteristics.  His condition worsened as months passed by ultimately ending in his tragic death.

This Saturday (February 2), GMA's drama anthology program, "Magpakailanman" will televise the life story of Eduardo Sese and how he lost the battle to rabies, a deadly viral infection that is mainly spread by infected warm-blooded animals like dogs. 

Entitled "Kagat ng Asong Ulol," the episode stars Gabby Eigenmann (as Eduardo Sese) with Rochelle Pangilinan, Irma Adlawan, Ces Quesada and Maybelline dela Cruz.

 “I had my doubts at first because everything was new; from the concept to our love teams,” she said.

Majority of the main cast came from the kiddie gag show “Goin’ Bulilit” but according to them, the transition wasn’t that hard. “After I graduated from Goin Bulilit, LUV U was my next major show,” said Miles. “I adjusted well because in Goin Bulilit, we were kids portraying as adults but in LUV U, we act as ourselves,” she said.

Marco Gumabao, Miles’ partner in LUV U, is the only newcomer in show business.

“It’s really fun to think that a year has already passed and my bond with Miles is still going strong. We even landed roles as a couple in the teleserye Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw. I’m really thankful to this show because it hones our acting skills,” he said.

According to the cast, they have a lot of ‘kilig moments’ in store for their viewers as another year unwraps. During their romantic anniversary celebration, they will have American composer and singer David Pomeranz as guest. “He’ll sing during our JS Prom in LUV U, so don’t miss it,” said Kiray Celis.

This Sunday (February 3), Principal Spencer (Smokey Manaloto) will announce the JS Prom which will make everyone excited. Double Success: 'Be Careful with My Heart' Dominates the TV Ratings and Trends on Twitter!

ABS-CBN's hit romantic-comedy TV series "Be Careful With My Heart" is taking the country by storm as it continues to capture the hearts of noontime viewers nationwide as proven by its latest all-time-high national TV ratings of 31.3%.

Based on the data from Kantar Media last Friday (January 25), the Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap-starrer ruled the its new timeslot and trashed its rival noontime show in GMA, which only got 14.8%, or almost 16 points lower than the national TV ratings garnered by the well-loved Kapamilya kilig-serye.

Aside from the ratings game, "Be Careful With My Heart" also conquered the list of Twitter's nationwide trending topics because of last Friday's much-talked-about episode, where Sir Chief (Richard) traveled to San Nicolas and serenaded Maya (Jodi) through the romantic ballad "Sorry Na, Pwede Ba?" The scenes were such a hit among TV viewers that Twitter Philippines was ruled by topics related to the show including Sir Chief, Maya, #mayaforgivesirchief, and #sirchiefnationalharanaday.

'Kahit Konting Pagtingin' Premieres with a High Rating!

ABS-CBN’s newest Primetime Bida kilig-serye “Kahit Konting Pagtingin” quickly made a mark in the hearts of TV viewers as its pilot episode wins the ratings game last Monday (January 28).

From the data of Kantar Media last Monday, the kilig-serye topbilled by Angeline Quinto, Paulo Avelino, and Sam Milby garnered 25.5% national TV ratings, compared to its rival program in GMA “Forever” which only got 12%.

Dawn is set to join a powerhouse cast composed of Gerald Anderson, Cristine Reyes, Dina Bonnevie, Tonton Gutierrez, Diana Zubiri and Rayver Cruz.

The newest kilig-serye "Kahit Konting Pagtingin" will make its Primetime premiere tonight! This is the debut TV series of so-called "Teleserye Theme Songs Queen" turning "Teleserye Darling" Angeline Quinto.

In the series, Angeline is playing the character of Aurora who will do everything to help her family and reach her dreams. She will meet the Ledesma brothers Adam and Lance played by Sam Milby and Paulo Avelino.

The TV series is originally slotted to take the Kapamilya Gold lineup. But due to insisted public demands and request from fans and supporters, the kilig-serye is put on the Primetime block. It replaces the timeslot of the recently concluded fantaserye "Aryana."
