“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” Snubbed by Oscar Awards
“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank”, Philippines' entry to this year's Oscar Awards failed to make it to the semi-final screening round of the said world's much-celebrated award giving body.
While the movie is continuously receiving praises and awards from different award-giving bodies and film festivals locally and around the globe, sadly, it was not able to make the cut in the Best Foreign Language category of the 84th Academy Awards.
The nine films chosen by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) in the Best Foreign Language category shortlist and still have the chance to win the coveted Oscar trophy are Bullhead (Belgium), Monsieur Lazhar (Canada), SuperClasico (Denmark), Pina (Germany), A Separation (Iran), Footnote (Israel), Omar Killed Me (Morocco), In Darkness (Poland), Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale (Taiwan).
The 5 finalists will be revealed alongside with the nominees in the major categories will be announced on January 24.
