Gumby Robber and Accomplice Surrender

Gumby robber Jacob Kiss and his accomplice Jason Giramma surrendered to San Diego police on Tuesday, September 13, 8 days after they attempted to rob a clerk at a 7-Eleven in Rancho Penasquitos in San Diego, California.

The incident was caught on tape where it shows that the robber dressed as gumby walked into a 7-Eleven convenience store, claiming to have a gun and demands a pack of cigarettes and cash from a store clerk who thought the incident was just a joke.

The 19-year-old suspect then tried to pull out what he said was a gun from his costume but instead dropped 27 cents on the floor and left the convenience store empty-handed.

The store clerk didn't report the crime to police until his boss saw the footage hours later.

A $1,000 reward was offered through Crime Stoppers about information related to the attempted robbery.

The two men, who brought the Gumby suit with them, voluntarily submitted themselves at San Diego robbery detectives and admitted to have had attempted to rob 7-Eleven.

The San Diego District Attorney's Office has not said whether they will file charges.
