Manila, Philippines – The Kuwaiti National Team is on its way to Manila for the 2nd leg of their World Cup qualifier against the Philippine Azkals.
The 2nd leg will be held on Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
At the Kuwaiti International Airport, the players were in high spirits after their 3-0 win over the Azkals.
But the Kuwaiti players admitted that they were surprised at the level of skill that the Azkals displayed, especially in the 1st half of the game.
"They have very good quality players," said one Kuwaiti coach after the game. "They have talent, like 12 (Angel Guirado) and 7 (James Younghusband)."
But the Kuwaitis made the adjustments in the 2nd half and got better results.
"We tried to treat our mistakes (during) the halftime," said the Kuwaiti coach.
The Kuwaiti team is looking forward to their 1st trip to the Philippines, and are happy that they have a comfortable cushion going into the away game in Manila.
