PAGASA Weather Update: Tropical Storm Juaning


At 5:00 a.m. today, Tropical Storm "JUANING" has intensified into a storm and now threatens Quezon-Aurora Area.

Tropical Depression "Juaning" is estimated based on satellite and surface data at 90 kms North Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or at 150 kms East Northeast of Daet, Camarines Norte (14.5°N, 124.5°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that Tropical Depression "Juaning" is moving West Northwest at 19 kph.

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & # 1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

TS "JUANING" will continue to bring rains over Central and Southern Luzon and of Visayas.
